Purpose of Position

Establish, maintain, and evaluate the effectiveness of standardized methods and practices for simulator support in the assigned regions. With the Manager, Simulation Standards, establish cost-effective methods of achieving the goals and objectives of the Simulator Standards Program.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with documentation and effectiveness measurements for all FlightSafety operated simulators and provide these as required by the respective regulators.
  • Resolves Corrective Actions (CARs) associated with regulatory audits within the prescribed time periods.
  • Provide input and recommendations to evaluate and enhance maintenance and simulator performance assessment methods to maintain compliance and appropriate fidelity levels. 
  • Provide recommendations for enhancement of methods and practices for flight simulator support, maintenance, and qualification.
  • Aid in the coaching and mentoring of Supervisors/Managers of Flight Training Devices in their efforts to provide cost-effective simulator support solutions to the Learning Centers.
  • Assist in defining the Learning Centers’ simulator continuing qualification performance requirements.
  • Ensures that regulatory requirements regarding simulators are met in a timely, cost-effective manner.
  • Identifies, records, and acts upon problems relating to products, processes, or progress of the quality management system, provides solutions through designated channels, and verifies the implementation of solutions.
  • Maintains a mutually beneficial working relationship with other departments which have responsibilities in simulator support and qualification.
  • Ensures appropriate analysis is conducted to identify and clarify issues and requirements of all aspects of simulator support.
  • Aids in the auditing of simulator support departments and training equipment to ensure quality objectives are being achieved.
  • Aids in the development and deployment of technical training requirements of simulator technical staff.Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers.
  • Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FSI products.
  • Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
  • Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance.  Able to work other than standard day shift, as required.
  • Must be available for extensive travel 25% to 50%.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience

  • 5-7 years as a simulator technician, or lead
  • 3-5 years of experience in establishing and ensuring simulator qualification compliance and interacting with regulators to establish and maintain simulator qualifications.  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Word Processing, spreadsheets, simulator operating systems
  • Basic office equipment skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
