Purpose of Position

The Sr. Control Account Specialist will be responsible for reporting status to internal stakeholders as required by the project. Explaining significant variations in cost and schedule, plans and will assist the Program Team will implementing mitigation steps. Identify risks & opportunities, request budget changes, and updates forecasts as needed.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Leading, planning, budgeting, and managing the cost/schedule/technical performance for each assigned Control Account (CA).
  • Integrate and work closely with Program Finance and Program Planning to plan, manage, and execute assigned scope of work.
  • Ability to understand Statement of Work documents and ensure requirements are captured and estimated
  • Work with partnering organizations (Supply Chain, Program Management, Quality, etc.) to ensure all processes are appropriately followed and implemented to ensure smooth product flow throughout the life cycle.
  • Manage the cost, schedule, and technical performance of the assigned Control Account(s) and Work Packages, determining and assigning corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct closed loop corrective action to include thorough variance analysis, monitoring of cost/schedule mitigation activities, and corrective action adjustment as necessary.
  • Provide timely and accurate insight to key program impacts or opportunities to the Program Manager.
  • Address questions related to parts procurement status, headcount challenges, resource constraints, or safety and quality issues.
  • Complete all Earned Value Management (EVM) assigned duties to include work authorization requests, estimate at complete review, schedule status, variance reporting, and comprehensive estimates at complete.
  • Provide analysis of past Earned Value Management status, project future performance and create a plan for execution of future scope.
  • Maintain an awareness of Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL) and Subcontract Data Requirement List (SDRL) items and other applicable contract deliverables within their Control Account.
  • Maintain CAM artifacts and backup data as needed for audit purposes (e.g. Quantifiable Backup Data). Create and maintain documents in the Project data repository as required.
  • Prepare meaningful Control Account variance analyses (cost, schedule, and technical).
  • Develop, implement, and manage action items and corrective actions (financial, schedule, and technical-related), as appropriate.
  • Support customer meetings and data requests pertaining to the Control Account effort.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelors degree in a technical or business oriented discipline.

Minimum Experience

  • 5 to 7 years of related experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of program lifecycle and how early milestones may drive future costs.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) processes and active management of performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with technical leads to manage cost, schedule and technical scope.
  • Previous Proposal and BOE (basis of estimate) experience preferred.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving complex issues or problems to successful closure.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Previous CAM or project lead experience.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP), is preferred but not required
  • Desire to enhance Program Management skills including communication, the ability to deal with unforeseen challenges, and building strong relationships.
  • Strong problem solving, root cause, corrective action, and closure skills.
  • Lead discussions and determine resolutions to problems.
  • Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with customer.
  • Accept responsibility, accountability and exercise authority to ensure cost, schedule, and technical success.
  • Support internal and external customer audits.
  • Excellent communicator both written and orally.
  • Demonstrated business acumen.
